Two RIBA Stirling Prize nominations for Buro Four

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

Two projects that Buro Four have been involved in have been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2011.

Derwent London's Angel Buildingin London, designed by AHMM (image left) and Bennetts Associates’ Royal Shakespeare Theatre, in Stratford have both been shortlisted this year. In order to reach this prestigious list, the RIBA Awards Group study all of the recent award winners and produce a list of the finest buildings.

Now in its sixteenth year, the RIBA Stirling Prize, in association with Architects' Journal and Benchmark is awarded to the architects of the best new European building 'built or designed in Britain'.

Buro Four acted as lead project managers for client Derwent London on the Angel Building in London, which opened its doors in October 2010. The 263,514 sq ft building was a redevelopment of an existing six-storey building into a high quality office space with retail units running along the ground floor expanding space by 100%.

Buro Four provided design project management services to the architect Bennett Associates for the £60 million redevelopment of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatre in Stratford upon Avon. In addition Buro Four provided programming and planning advice on the timing and management of the design and acting as the interface between the architect and the contractor.

Good luck to both projects!
