Circle Hosptial in Bath has recently opened. The hospital, being the first ever healthcare project designed by Foster + Partners, is intended to be as warm and welcoming as a five-star boutique hotel. The groundbreaking hospital hopes to revolutionise the working environment for medics and the way we provide patient care in Britain. Both surgeons and patients alike will be flooded with natural daylight and sunshine with all rooms having great views of the surrounding countryside.

The project provides acute care facilities comprising four operating theatres, a full range of diagnostic facilities and 28 in-patient bedrooms. The hospital, with a construction value of circa £22m, is the first facility for Circle with a planned roll out of approximately 20 similar buildings over the next 5 years. As a rapidly expanding partnership of clinical physicians, Circle requested a number of changes during the project's lifespan that resulted in 156 separate instructions being issued with an approx. value of £1.6m. Notwithstanding, this the project was completed just 3 weeks later than originally planned.
