corporate social responsibility

An effectively implemented Corporate Social Responsibility policy helps Buro Four to take into account the interests of our stakeholders, including our clients, our employees, our suppliers and our community. Coupled with this we recognise that as an SME our actions will have a direct impact economically, socially and environmentally and that as a business it is our responsibility to ensure that this impact is positive. This policy is twofold: general social responsibility and our commitment to sustainability.

Some of our current initiatives include many learning and development programmes in place to support our staff. We actively encourage our staff to maintain a healthy work life balance and where possible we operate flexible working arrangements.

We have established community links and relationships with local inner city schools and this year we have launched a student mentoring scheme with South Camden Community School. We also have a long term relationship with the village of Longido in Tanzania, where in 2008 we worked with the villagers to support the development of a computer and internet facility and water harvesting storage units which has left the community with a long lasting legacy.

Buro Four is totally committed to a sustainable way of working both in terms of guiding our clients to more environmentally sensitive development outcomes and in the operation of our own business. Our motto is 'tread lightly'. We have a proven track record of not only delivering innovative sustainable solutions, but doing so within commercially viable limits. We have established a special interest group within Buro Four headed by a Main Board Director that acts as a focal point for sustainability issues both in our projects and for our own operations.
