Buro Four provided development and project management services to Crest Nicholson on the development of a sustainable community adjacent to Crawley in West Sussex which is to be completed by 2018.The site is part former landfill and part greenfield and includes a number of constraints including areas of ancient woodland, the House Copse Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a railway line and site topography.
The development will include:
- approximately 2500 dwellings, 1000 of which are affordable units
- a mixed-use centre, including retail and employment space
- a new railway station and bus link terminus, including three bridges over the railway
- a CHP plant to provide electricity and district heating
- formal and informal green spaces, community facilities, including a primary
- school, healthcare centre, library and neighbourhood centre.
Services provided includeprogramming and planning, production of development appraisals and liaison with Network Rail, Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council and all other key project stakeholders.
