The newly completed Civic Offices for Runnymede Borough Council are more than just offices. They pioneer a new breed of civic buildings bringing together four services ‘under one roof’ – council offices, police station, new public library and CCTV control - assisting in the regeneration of Addlestone's town centre.  The new offices have been developed on the site of the existing community centre. The site of the previous offices will be redeveloped as housing to fund the cost of the new offices upon their completion and occupation.

Sustainability is a key issue for the building. The Council aspired to lead rather than follow in terms of sustainability. Spending public funds called for responsible sustainable design maximising sustainable materials, thermal mass, insulation, reducing solar gain and delivering an efficient workplace.

Buro Four was appointed to provide project management services for the master planning of the site and the construction of the new offices. Our duties included development of the master plan, budgetary control and management of the integration of new ways of working.

Runnymede's new Civic Offices were shortlisted for a BCO Award 2009 and Building Award for Public Building of the Year 2009.
